Creating Inclusive Futures

Research, practice and policy in Enabling Education

A NAEEA 2026 Conference special collection in the Journal of Pathways Education and Research (JPER).

The National Association of Enabling Educators of Australia (NAEEA) and the Journal of Pathways Education and Research (JPER) invite presenters at the 2026 NAEEA Conference in Perth to develop their conference contributions into full scholarly manuscripts for a special collection on Creating Inclusive Futures.

The collection will extend the dialogue and impact of the conference by bringing together rigorous research, critical analysis and evidence-informed practice. Accepted articles will be published progressively in JPER’s regular numbered issues and brought together on a dedicated online collection page.

Scope

We welcome empirical, conceptual, evaluative and critically reflective manuscripts addressing one or more conference streams:

  • Curriculum, Practice and Pedagogy — inclusive curriculum, assessment and teaching approaches.
  • Revolutionising Online Learning — digital innovation, artificial intelligence and equitable online participation.
  • Empowering Diverse Perspectives — diverse knowledges, identities, voices and ways of knowing.
  • Accessible Learning Environments — structural, pedagogical and institutional approaches to inclusion.
  • The Future of Enabling Education — policy, strategy, funding, field development and sector directions.
  • Enabling Wellbeing and Agency — belonging, flourishing, self-determination and capability.

Who may submit?

The call is open to keynote, concurrent-session, workshop, panel and poster presenters whose manuscript is grounded in, or substantially develops, their NAEEA 2026 contribution. Additional co-authors who did not present may be included if they meet normal authorship criteria.

Up to 4,000 words, including references. Reports must move beyond description to engage with theory, evidence and implications for wider practice or policy.

Publication and review

  • Conference acceptance establishes eligibility to submit; it does not guarantee publication.
  • Manuscripts must be original, not previously published and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Submissions must substantially develop, rather than reproduce, the conference abstract, slides, poster or presentation.
  • All submissions will undergo JPER’s usual editorial screening. Suitable manuscripts will proceed to double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers.
  • Editorial decisions remain independent and are based on fit, rigour, contribution and successful completion of peer review.
  • Accepted articles will retain normal JPER citation details — volume, issue, page or article identifier and DOI — while also appearing on the special collection page.
